Open Enrollment for 2027 benefits takes place October 19 – November 6, 2026. It is your opportunity to review and select the benefits options that best support you and your family. We’re here to help you understand your options and choose the coverage that’s right for you.
Log in to review and confirm your elections by 11:59 p.m. CT on November 6, 2026. Your elections will go into effect on January 1, 2027.
For complete plan details, coverage information, costs, and eligibility requirements, review the 2027 Benefits Guide.
Do I have to make new elections for 2027?
The enrollment process is passive, meaning most of your current elections (except FSA), including your medical coverage, will automatically carry over to 2027 unless you make a change.
The table below summarizes which elections automatically carry over and which require action during Open Enrollment.

| Medical | Yes | Your current election will automatically carry over unless you make a change. |
| Dental and vision | Yes | Your current elections will automatically carry over unless you make a change. |
| HSA contributions | Yes | Your 2026 HSA contribution election will carry over. If you want to contribute a different amount, including the 2027 IRS maximum, you must update your election. |
| FSA contributions | No | You must make an election each year to contribute. |
| Voluntary benefits (Accident, critical illness and hospital indemnity, identity theft and legal services) | Yes | Your current election will automatically carry over unless you make a change |
| Life and AD&D insurance | Yes | Your current election will automatically carry over unless you make a change. |
| Disability insurance | Yes | Your current election will automatically carry over unless you make a change. |

If you are interrupted while enrolling and your session times out, or if your browser window closes, the enrollment system will resume where you left off if you have made at least one plan election. Once you log back in to your account, you will receive a pop-up to either resume your enrollment or start over. If you elect to resume, your progress will be restored. However, you still must click Confirm to submit your elections and finalize your enrollment by 11:59 p.m. CT on November 6, 2026.
For plan details not addressed in these FAQs, see the 2027 Benefits Guide.
- You must first make your 2026 elections within 31 days of your date of hire at myaecombenefits.com. Select “Don’t have User ID” and follow the prompts to register your account. After logging in, click the enrollment tile to start your 2026 enrollment.
- After you complete your 2026 enrollment, you will have access to make your 2027 elections. Most of your elections will carry over to 2027 (except FSA) unless you make a change.
- Complete your 2027 enrollment to make any changes from your 2026 enrollment.
If you are a part-time variable/casual employee classified as working less than 20 hours a week or a temporary employee, you are eligible for our medical plan options as well as applicable state-mandated sick leave, the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), the Retirement & Savings Plan (RSP) or the Caribe Retirement Plan (for Puerto Rico employees only) and business travel benefits.
You are not eligible for other benefits, including dental and vision coverage, life insurance, accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) insurance and disability coverage.
You can change optional life and AD&D insurance anytime during the year. However, your other benefits choices can only be changed during the year within 31 days of experiencing a life event. If you miss that date, then you must wait until the next Benefits Open Enrollment to make changes. See Qualifying Life Events section below for details.
Once you’ve selected your benefits, they will remain in effect for a full year. After November 6, you cannot change your selections until the following Benefits Open Enrollment, unless you experience a qualifying life event:
- A change in family or marital status
- The birth or adoption of a child
- A change in coverage for yourself or your dependents under your spouse/domestic partner’s plan
- A change in the eligibility status of your child
- A change in your address
To make a life event change, log in to your www.myaecombenefits.com account or call the AECOM Benefits Service Center at 844.779.9567 (U.S.), +1 312.843.5091 (outside the U.S.). Representatives are available Monday – Friday, 8am – 8pm CST.
Explore the “Life Events” in the site navigation bar at the top for more details.
Why must I provide my dependents’ Social Security numbers when enrolling in AECOM medical coverage?
When you choose AECOM medical coverage, you must provide a Social Security number for each of your covered dependents (spouse/domestic partner and children). This is due to a tax-reporting requirement under the Affordable Care Act.
It’s a good idea to review and confirm Social Security numbers when you log in to www.myaecombenefits.com during each Benefits Open Enrollment to check for accuracy. For security reasons, you can view only the last four digits of a dependent’s Social Security number online. If you need to confirm the full Social Security number, call the AECOM Benefits Service Center at 844.779.9567 (U.S.), +1 312.843.5091 (outside the U.S.), and ask to speak with a manager.
You must provide proof of eligibility for any NEWLY added dependent. After you enroll, you’ll receive information to complete the dependent verification process and upload documents, at www.myaecombenefits.com. Additional information can be found here.
Dependent children remain eligible through the end of the month they turn age 26. The dependent may be eligible for COBRA continuation coverage. Additional information can be found here.
If your spouse/domestic partner has a different Open Enrollment period, contact the AECOM Benefits Service Center. Depending on your circumstances, you may be able to update your elections after reviewing your spouse/domestic partner’s coverage options.
The UHC plans provide nationwide coverage, making them a great option if you and your dependents live in different states.
If you reside in a region where Kaiser Permanente is available, but your dependents are outside of those coverage areas, review your emergency care and telehealth options while you’re away from home. This ensures that both you and your dependents have access to in-network care, regardless of your location.
What are my medical plan options for 2027?
You continue to have four medical plan options through UnitedHealthcare (UHC):
- High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)
- HDHP Premier, Preferred Provider Organization (PPO)
- Traditional Plan
- Surest
Depending on where you live, you may also have regional carriers available to you:
- Kaiser Permanente (generally available in CA, CO, DC, GA, HI, MD, VA, OR, WA)
- Hawaii Medical Service Association (HMSA) Hawaii
- Triple-S Puerto Rico
For plan details, see the 2027 Benefits Guide.
We evaluate medical carriers based on provider access, geographic coverage, quality, customer experience and cost. UHC offers a large national network, coverage that works across states, tools to help you make informed healthcare decisions, and access to additional health and wellbeing programs. We regularly review carriers during contract renewals to ensure the best fit for AECOM.
Surest is a UHC medical plan that uses the UHC provider network but offers a different member experience. With Surest, you can use the Surest app or website to search for in-network providers, compare care options and see your copay before receiving care. This upfront pricing can help you make informed healthcare decisions and better understand your costs before scheduling appointments or procedures. Visit surest.care/AECOM to learn more, including reviewing providers for 2027 copays.
AECOM fully covers the cost of several health support programs for UHC and Surest members, at no additional cost to you and your family members.
- Virta (new for 2027) helps eligible members with Type 2 diabetes manage their condition through personalized nutrition guidance, coaching, and medical support.
- Carrum Health for support with eligible planned surgical procedures and cancer treatments. You may be able to get your surgery or cancer treatment for no cost or for only your plan deductible (no copay or co-insurance).
- Color for free cancer risk assessment, screening and navigation services.
Ultimately, it comes down to how you use your medical plan and your cost preferences. To help you decide:
- Review the Additional Learning Resources listed above.
- Think about your healthcare needs for the year ahead, including doctor visits, prescriptions, planned procedures, or ongoing care.
- Consider your financial preferences — whether you’d rather pay less from each paycheck or pay less when you receive care.
- Review which doctors, hospitals and providers are important to you.
- Learn more about your plan options at benefits.aecom.com.
The medical expense estimator tool can be used when you enroll at myaecombenefits.com to compare potential costs across plans.
The medical expense estimator is available on www.myaecombenefits.com as part of your Benefits Open Enrollment process. When you land on the homepage, click on 2027 Open Enrollment, click View/Change under medical and follow the prompts. You will see the page prior to the plan page as shown below. Click “Personalize Estimates” to begin the process.

This will help you compare your medical plan options and choose the plan that is the best fit for you by looking at things like:
- The number of doctor’s office, urgent care or emergency room visits you anticipate
- Prescriptions you currently take
- Any planned procedures and/or other care you anticipate receiving in 2027
The estimator will calculate your total cost of coverage — what you pay each paycheck and what you may pay out-of-pocket for care — and recommends the most cost-effective plan for you.
The information you provide is used strictly to provide total cost information for each of the medical plans. The data isn’t saved, and your answers are not shared with anyone, including AECOM.
We understand the importance of having access to the doctors, hospitals and healthcare providers you know and trust.
If you want to continue seeing a specific provider, we recommend confirming their participation before enrolling.
To verify participation:
- Check out the insurance carrier preview websites.
- UHC Plans
- Surest
- When you enroll at myaecombenefits.com, check the networks of each insurance carrier you’re considering.
- Call your provider’s office directly.
Provider networks can change from time to time as health plans and providers renegotiate contracts.
If your doctor or hospital is no longer in-network:
- Confirm the provider’s status using the carrier’s directory or by contacting the provider directly.
- Contact the carrier to understand your options and identify alternative in-network providers.
- If you’re receiving ongoing treatment, ask whether continuity-of-care support may be available.
Members are typically notified of significant network changes when possible. Provider contract negotiations occur throughout the healthcare industry and are not unique to any one carrier.
Yes. Coverage is guaranteed, regardless of whether you and/or your eligible dependents have pre-existing conditions.
If you’re enrolling in a UHC plan for the first time (or changing plans), you will receive a new medical plan ID card in the mail. Digital ID cards will be available through your carrier account (e.g., myuhc.com or kp.org) if you need your card before your physical ID card arrives. If you remain in the same plan for 2027, you will not receive a new card.

Will medical plan costs increase for 2027?
Yes, medical plan costs (premiums) will increase for 2027. The prices for medical services and prescription drugs, plus the increased demand for health care services, combined with the administrative complexity of the health care system, all contribute to rising medical costs each year. However, AECOM will continue to cover most of the cost for medical coverage to keep your benefits as affordable as possible for you and your family.
As you enroll online, you’ll be able to see all your benefit premium amounts. Click View/Change on each plan to see all available options and premiums.

For medical coverage, click the + next to Cost or Credit Details to view:
- Your paycheck deduction (premium)
- Any applicable working spouse/domestic partner surcharge
- The amount AECOM contributes toward the cost of your coverage
How are prescription drugs covered?
Prescription drug coverage is included in all the medical plan options. The UHC and Surest medical plans include comprehensive prescription drug coverage through OptumRx. The Kaiser Permanente medical plans include comprehensive prescription drug coverage.
For coverage details, see the 2027 Benefits Guide or visit the UHC preview site, Surest preview site or Kaiser preview site.
A formulary is a list of generic and brand name drugs that are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and are covered under your prescription drug coverage. Visit the UHC preview site, Surest preview site or Kaiser preview site to make sure your drug is listed on the formulary before you fill it. If it isn’t, contact your provider to see if an alternative drug on the formulary list may be an option for you.
Review the in-network pharmacy list on the visit the UHC preview site, Surest preview site or Kaiser preview site to make sure your current pharmacy is in the network or to find a new pharmacy.
Are there dental and vision plan changes?
Dental coverage will continue through Delta Dental and vision coverage will continue through VSP. As we enter the second year of our multi-year agreements, there will be no changes to plans or employee costs for 2027. These agreements provide greater cost predictability, with Delta Dental rates locked in until 2028 and VSP rates locked in until 2029. Your 2026 elections will automatically carry over into the new year unless you actively change your coverage level or decline during Open Enrollment.
You can find details about all the plan options when you enroll at www.myaecombenefits.com during Benefits Open Enrollment and in your 2027 Benefits Guide.
To see whether your provider is in-network:
- Check out the insurance carrier websites.
- When you enroll at myaecombenefits.com, check the networks of each insurance carrier you’re considering.
- Call your provider’s office directly.
The High Plan has a higher paycheck contribution, but offers orthodontia coverage, lower deductibles, higher benefit maximums and richer coverage for major services than the Low Plan.
The Low Plan offers coverage for essentials, like eye exams and frames/lens allowances, and the High Plan offers more enhanced coverage. No matter which plan you choose, you’ll save money when you visit a VSP network provider each time you need care.
Both dental plans allow you to visit in-network and out-of-network providers, but you save money when you visit dentists in the Dental Provider Organization (DPO) network, because these dentists agree to contracted rates.
Similarly for the vision plans, you have the freedom to visit any provider you choose, but you’ll save money when you visit Vision Service Plan (VSP) providers.
What is the difference between a Health Savings Account (HSA) and a Flexible Spending Account (FSA)?
They may sound alike, and they both help you save money on your taxes, but each account has its own eligibility requirements, features and advantages.
| HSA | FSA |
| Available only with eligible HDHP coverage | Available with non-HSA eligible plans |
| Money rolls over year to year | Use-it-or-lose-it rules apply |
| Account belongs to you permanently | Account tied to plan year |
| Can be used as a long-term savings and investment vehicle | Best for predictable annual expenses |
If you’re eligible for an HSA and want long-term flexibility, an HSA may be a good option. If you expect regular healthcare expenses and are not enrolled in an HSA-eligible plan, an FSA may help reduce your taxes on those expenses.

Yes. For 2027, HSA contribution limits are increasing to $4,500 for individuals and $9,000 for families. The HSA “catch-up” contribution for those age 55 and older continues at $1,000.
If you are currently contributing to an HSA, your contribution election will automatically carry over into 2027. However, you should review your election during Open Enrollment if:
- You don’t currently contribute and would like to start.
- You want to contribute more or less than your current amount.
- You want to contribute up to the 2027 IRS maximum. Your contribution will not automatically increase to the new IRS limit.
- You plan to enroll in Medicare. Individuals enrolled in Medicare generally cannot contribute to an HSA and should consider changing their contribution election to $0. See more details below.
Note: You can start or change your HSA contributions at any time during the year. Log into your benefits account, choose Change Your Coverage and then select the HSA contribution tile. All changes will be effective the first of the next month.
Your HSA balance is always yours to keep, even if you switch to a medical plan that doesn’t allow you to contribute to an HSA. You can continue to use the funds in your HSA to pay for eligible health care expenses.
Your HSA belongs to you. Any money in the account remains yours to keep and use for eligible healthcare expenses, even after you leave AECOM.
No, you can only use your HSA to pay for eligible health care expenses up to the amount you have in your account. For example, if you have $295 in your account when you need to pay for a medical procedure that costs $600. You can use the $295 in your HSA to pay for part of the procedure, but you’ll need to pay the remaining $305 with non-HSA dollars.
No. Once you are enrolled in any part of Medicare, IRS rules generally prohibit new contributions to an HSA.
If your HSA contribution election carries over into 2027 and you will be enrolled in Medicare, you should review your election during Open Enrollment and change your contribution amount to $0 if you are not eligible to contribute.
However:
- You keep all money already in your HSA.
- You may continue using existing HSA funds for eligible healthcare expenses.
- Your Medicare enrollment does not cause you to lose your HSA balance.
If you are approaching age 65, consider speaking with a Health Pro and your personal tax advisor before making elections.

How can I learn more about an HSA?
Visit our HSA page or sign up for an upcoming live session hosted by Merrill in October to understand how to make the most of your HSA and prepare for future healthcare costs.
You can elect to contribute up to $3,500 to your Health Care FSA for 2027.
The Dependent Care FSA contribution limit is $5,000 or $2,500 if you are married and filing taxes separately.
While the IRS has raised the limit for the Dependent Care FSA for 2027, AECOM is not adopting the increased limits, as we would most likely not pass the IRS nondiscrimination testing requirements under Section 129 of the Internal Revenue Code. These IRS nondiscrimination rules are designed to ensure that benefits like the Dependent Care FSA do not disproportionately favor highly compensated employees (HCEs).
What is changing with life and AD&D, and disability coverage in 2027?
Effective January 1, 2027, AECOM will transition from The Hartford to New York Life. New York Life will provide life and AD&D, short-term disability and long-term disability coverage beginning in 2027.
Employees may see references to both The Hartford and New York Life during the transition period. In general, disability claims requests that begin in 2026 continue to be handled through The Hartford, while new disability claims and leave requests beginning in 2027 will be handled by New York Life. Additional details are available in the New York Life Transition FAQ.
While the core plan designs will remain largely unchanged, members will benefit from several enhancements and enrollment opportunities.
Life insurance
- Lower rates for you and your spouse life insurance coverage.
- A special Open Enrollment opportunity to enroll in or increase coverage up to the Guaranteed Issue (GI) amount without providing Evidence of Insurability (EOI).
- A new Child Life Insurance option with a $20,000 benefit.
Long-term disability (LTD)
- A special Open Enrollment opportunity to enroll in LTD coverage or increase coverage without providing EOI.
If you are currently enrolled in supplemental life and AD&D insurance or long-term disability coverage, your elections will automatically carry over into 2027. As a reminder, basic life and AD&D insurance is paid by AECOM and you are automatically covered.
During Open Enrollment you may choose to take advantage of special enrollment opportunities, including enrolling in or increasing optional coverage without providing Evidence of Insurability (EOI).
The transition to New York Life may result in changes to claim filing and leave administration processes beginning January 1, 2027. Additional details are provided in the Life and Disability Insurance Transition FAQ.
Yes. Accident, Critical Illness and Hospital Indemnity insurance will continue through Voya. Identity Theft protection will continue through Allstate, and the Legal Plan will continue through MetLife Legal Plans.
As part of our multi-year agreements, there will be no changes to plans or employee costs. This continued stability helps make benefits easier to understand, keeps costs predictable, and provides confidence that your coverage will remain consistent from year to year.
